Hello Anton, while not having read the work in question, the title "My Correct Views on Everything" would in itself suggest an abundance of wit and self-efacing humor. I can sympathize with the author as I had a similar awakening in the 90's; I have often mentioned I was schooled by Jesuits at University, which included a heavy dose of Liberation Theology, which I bought into wholeheartedly. Like Marxism/Communism itself, it does present certain plausible premises, especially to those in dire socio-economic circumstance (i.e. nothing to lose). But the reality is that these are mere tools for justifying acts and behavior that runs contrary to the gospel and societal well-being as a whole.

I think you nailed it; regardless of the ebb and tide of the economy, we need to be vigilant against extremes on one side or another, lest we lose our collective souls to Marxism or consumerism.
