Anthony - YOU may not have a problem with "the Bitter Pill" (aka the Tablet) but I sure do : ) But not going to raliroad the crux of your very good post here by getting into it.

Your post reminds me of the cargo cults existant up to the '80's. Pacific Islanders who had never so much seen technology on par with the wheel witnessed planes delivering cargo during WW II and benefited from these deliveries, spawning a cult of people who created fetishes, designs and a belief system praying for the return of these "deities". The phonemenon you describe in Nagaland is one which has very much been going on in the US since the 80's; gang culture which has become pervasive in pop-culture and reaching the outermost fringes of suburbia.

The act of a white, freckled 4th-grader in Omaha named "Zeek" flashing gang symbols during his school photo is no longer surprising. Children of all ages, genders and ethnicities are being shown what is "cool" and they mimick the behavior/style/dress of what they see without knowing the basis behind it. The fact that it has reached Nagaland was only a matter of time.

If only we had a global "Catholic channel" with a decent budget.
